Each university will have a range of sporting facilities from outdoor sports pitches, gyms, swimming pools and sports halls. At Manchester Metropolitan University we have a vast array of sporting facilities and Manchester is home to many different National Sports Centres, including the National Cycling Centre and the National Squash Centre. This sprint will introduce you to the sports facilities you might find at a university.

Institute of Sport (IoS)

Manchester Met’s Institute of Sport, based at 99 Oxford Road on the main campus is our newest facility, providing sports degree students with access to world class learning and research facilities and opportunities.

Check out the facilities contained in the IoS by clicking here and by watching the video.

Manchester Met Sport Facilities

All students at Manchester Met have access to a wide range of facilities including Platt Lane Sports Complex, the Sugden Sports Centre and the Manchester Aquatics Centre.

This video provides more information on the facilities at Manchester Met.

Platt Lane Sports Complex

Our Platt Lane Sports Complex is home to many of our clubs and teams. It houses two large sports halls, a large gym and as well as outdoor and covered pitches. Platt Lane also contains lecture rooms, labs and a strength and conditioning suite, which are used for some of the teaching on Manchester Met’s sports degrees. Which facilities will you use?

If you study at Manchester Met, take a moment to consider which sports facilities you will use from the ones that were covered above. Which facilities will you use to continue sports and activities that you currently do, and which new facilities would you like to use?
