UK Disability History Month
Running from November 16th until December 16th, UK Disability History Month focuses on raising awareness on the history of struggle of disabled people in their quest for equality and human rights. It’s a good time to educate ourselves on the mistakes from the past and how we can strive for a brighter future.
This year’s theme is Disability, Health and Well Being, and here at Rise, we offer several self study packs that can help you approach these themes not only during UK Disability History Month but all year round. Take the opportunity to gain communications skills with a gentle introduction to BSL, or develop a toolkit to support others in wellbeing and emotional health:
- Deaf Awareness and British Sign Language
- Understanding Wellbeing
- Emotional & Mental Health in Children & Young People
We know that many of you would like to delve deeper into these kinds of areas, and as part of our FutureMe week offer, we’ll be giving you opportunities to sustain your journey with BSL and wellbeing advocacy with two further courses:
Don’t forget to check out the official website for the UK Disability History Month, where you will learn more about their efforts on raising awareness and many more ways for you to engage throughout the month.
