Share: Curate your story and share with others.
Share is the last stage of Future me plan: sharing your reflections, achievements and challenges.
Sharing enables you to articulate your experiences and be proud of your progress – it is your story! Sharing with others can also help you achieve your goals by navigating the challenges and staying motivated with the help of those around you. You may also be inspired by others sharing their experiences with you.
Share your progress
Keep track of the skills and experience you have developed, this could be via your transcript in Rise. It will help you remember and demonstrate what you have achieved throughout your time at Manchester Met and is a great resource to draw on when you apply for internships, placements, graduate jobs, or if you apply to further study.
View your transcript in Rise to check your progress against the study packs you have completed. You can also download and share your achievements, with a member of staff or even straight to LinkedIn!
‘Fail forward‘ – this saying is used a lot by Manchester School of Art, and is a great way of reminding us that ‘failing’ is a learning experience too, and an important part of experimenting or trying new things.
Fearing failure can often prevent people from getting involved or trying new things. You may wish to share some of your ‘failures’ as well, as long as you share the learnings and how this has improved your skills such as resilience, persistence or courage. This sharing may really inspire others too!
Read more about overcoming the fear of failure.
Be sure to prioritise your mental health and wellbeing though, especially when considering situations where you felt things didn’t go to plan or you could have improved. For support visit our wellbeing pages.
You could share with a range of people, including friends, family, peers, unit leaders, personal tutors, supervisors, employers, recruiters, mentors and more. You could also share on social media (e.g., LinkedIn), update your CV, a blog, journal, video diary, or other medium relevant to your chosen sector.
What to share?
There are lots of ways you can share your story:
Here are some things you may want to keep a log of and share with your tutor, supervisor or peers:
- Your goals
- Progress against your goals
- Experiences you have completed
- Your reflections

Privacy and Safety
Remember to be selective with what you share, consider your privacy, safety and digital footprint.
Additionally, curate what you share, mindful that prospective and current employers will view any online content. Instead, use the analogy of sharing as creating a ‘shop window’ of your skills, knowledge and attributes. You do not need to show them the entire ‘warehouse’ of experiences as this would be overwhelming. Instead you choose what and how you will share, it is your story!
What happens next?
After sharing your experiences and reflections, return to your Map and review your goals – what can you attempt next? What new learnings do you have to try the next thing on your goals list?
Remember, your Future me plan should be dynamic and evolving so you can repeat and learn from your experiences. Start now, and over time you will become more confident, self-aware and develop the skills employers are looking for.
