Make LinkedIn Work for You: Post Ideas!

Camila Torres Rise Communications and Student Engagement

Building your LinkedIn profile isn’t just about filling out boxes — it’s about sharing what makes you special, what makes you stand out. Think of it as your personal brand, a way to network and showcase who you are as a student and future professional. But…what to post? If you’re stuck wondering what to put out there, here are some easy ways to share, connect, and advocate for yourself on LinkedIn.

1. Your Projects and Achievements

Working on an exciting project? Finished a challenging assignment? Participated in a competition? This is your spotlight! Share a post about what you did, the skills you developed, and the impact it had. Use visuals, if possible — add photos, videos, or documents to showcase your work.

“Just completed a group project for my International Marketing class where we developed a campaign for a real brand! This experience taught me so much about teamwork, strategy, and creativity. Excited to bring these skills to future projects!”

Nothing on the works? Don’t worry, Rise always has something for you. Check our Projects and Placement page to find your next big project!

2. Learning Journeys and Skill Development

Whether you’re learning a new language, coding skill, or completing an online course, let people know! Employers value ongoing learning, and LinkedIn is the perfect place to highlight your dedication to growth. And! Look no further, Rise has many self study packs that will allow you to demonstrate your discipline and proactiveness in self-led development.

“Diving into Python programming this semester and loving it! Here’s a project I built to reinforce what I’ve learned so far.”

Use the LinkedIn “Skills” section to add skills as you learn them. Even better — if you’ve completed a course with a certificate, upload it!

3. Reflect on Your Internships, Jobs, and Volunteering

Got a part-time job, internship, or volunteer experience? Don’t keep it to yourself! Share what you’ve learned, how the experience shaped you, or a memorable story that highlights your growth.

“Spent the summer interning at a local startup where I contributed to social media strategy. Loved seeing how each post could drive engagement and learning the ins and outs of content planning.”

Don’t forget you can also claim Rise Points for any activity you’ve done outside our site!

4. Share Industry Insights or News

LinkedIn is a professional network, and keeping up with your industry’s latest news is a great habit to start early. Found an interesting article or a new trend? Share your thoughts on it or ask your network for theirs!

“Came across an article on how AI is shaping digital marketing, and it got me thinking about the future of content creation. What do you think? Are creative jobs evolving, or will there always be a human touch needed?”

5. Celebrate Milestones & Accomplishments

Finished an important semester, passed a tough exam, or reached a career milestone? Celebrate it! LinkedIn is a place for sharing wins, big and small, and recognizing how far you’ve come.

Just finished my final exams for the year! Reflecting on how much I’ve grown this semester and feeling motivated to tackle the next. Grateful for all the support from my professors and classmates.”

6. Last but not least – Anything Rise!

Whether you’ve attended a workshop, completed a self-study pack, or gotten a new certification, participating in Rise activities is definitely worth sharing! Each experience highlights your commitment to growth, your passion for learning, and your engagement outside the classroom. Don’t forget to tag us @Mcr Met Rise, and we’ll be there to like, share, and comment on all your posts!

We know promoting yourself on LinkedIn might feel daunting, especially if you’ve never posted before, so why not start with a couple of Rise self-study packs designed to empower you?
