Develop International Early Years Science Activities

1st November to 30th January
This is an opportunity to work with creative early years science educators and students from the University of Manresa in Spain. You will be supported by experts to develop a science education activity for young children. It is ideal for students of science, education, early years and/or Spanish. No expertise is required and everyone is welcome.

You will be supported by science educators and students at the University of Manresa in Spain, to explore and create science education materials for young children. Spanish students will work simultaneously on the same activity, and there will be a collaborative joint celebration event in January. The University of Manresa have specialist facilities for children under the age of 6 to engage in science-based activities designed by staff and students called Lab 0-6, and this is an exciting opportunity for you to work with international experts and students to impact science education for the very young, which is often a neglected area of education.

You will work collaboratively as part of an interdisciplinary team to design and develop a science activity for young children, with the guidance and support of our international partners. As an example you might support children’s development of curiosity and understanding about animals by putting together a kit that they can use to explore how animals look, eat, behave etc. Materials and facilities will be provided in Manchester, and you will work as part of a team of students from across the university to generate ideas and develop the activity. You will be given expert feedback on your activity, and the opportunity to trial it with local children at an educational setting.

The culmination will be a joint celebration event where you and the Spanish students will share your creations and reflections. Students with an interest in/skills in education, science, working with young children, creativity and /or Spanish would be most suited to this project but no expertise are needed. It is a great opportunity to develop your educational skills, build your professional network, and to gain international experience.

Please ask any questions you have in the comments section when you express your interest.
