Five-Year Planning – Experiences and reflection

Now that you have your short-term goals defined and some SMART objectives, you are ready to start acting on them.

Go back to your SMART objectives list and identify any tasks or activities you could start doing right now. It is possible you need support completing some of these tasks or activities, so identify what kind of support you need and do not be afraid to ask for it. It might also be that there is already information or resources already available online that can help you.

OPTIONAL

Learning to reflect on your experiences is a key personal and professional skill that can have many benefits. Part of your My 5YP involves reflecting on activities you have undertaken identified in your plan

Read the text below and take note of any information you find particularly helpful.

OPTIONAL

The Rise Academy Assessment self study pack guides you through the creation of a portfolio of experiences and reflections, and provides you with the tools to engage in a continuous reflective practice, going beyond strict reflective models and experimenting with your creativity:  https://rise.mmu.ac.uk/courses/claim-rise-credits-15/

You can explore other reflective models at this free Open University course on becoming a reflective practitioner

OPTIONAL

Read back to the self-assessment activity, and the sub-attributes where you scored yourself 2 or 3. Identify one experience where you developed one or more of them, either at school, through extra-curricular activities or hobbies. Write a reflection on that activity, using either the quick model outlined in the text ‘Reflecting on Your Experiences’ or another one you are familiar with or prefer.
