Microsoft Copilot is a conversational AI search experience that has been developed by Microsoft. Some of the activities in this study pack will involve using Microsoft Copilot. Here are some of the things that Copilot can do:
Generate Text
If you need some inspiration or creativity, you can ask Copilot to generate text for you. For example, you can type “Generate a list of 10 things to do in Paris” or “Write a haiku about Manchester United”.
Search the Web
If you want to learn more about something or verify some facts, you can ask Copilot to search the web for you. For example, you can type “Who is the president of France?” or “How many people live in New York?”. Copilot will show you the sources it used to answer your question.
Generate Images
If you want to see how something looks like or create a custom image, you can ask Copilot to generate images for you. For example, you can type “Show me a picture of a blue whale” or “Create an image of a castle on a hill”. It is good practice to acknowledge that the image has been created with AI.
Perform Visual Searches
If you have an image and you want to know more about it, you can upload it to Copilot and ask questions about it. For example, you can upload a picture of a painting and ask “Who is the artist?” or “What is the name of this style?”.
Interact with Webpages and PDF Documents
If you want to get a summary or ask questions about a webpage or a PDF document that is open in your Edge Browser, you can use Copilot to do that. For example, you can type “Summarise this article for me” or “What is the main argument of this paper?”. You may need to change your settings to enable this feature. To do this, click on the gear icon at the bottom right, select Copilot and enable the “Allow access to any webpage or PDF” toggle.
Translation
If you want to translate some text into another language, you can ask Copilot to do that for you. For example, you can type “Translate ‘Hello’ into Spanish” or “Translate this paragraph into French”.
Help with Coding
If you need some assistance with coding, you can ask Copilot to review your code, test it for errors, find bugs and suggest solutions. For example, you can type “Check my code for syntax errors” or “Find the bug in this function”. However, please be careful and always check your code for security and licensing issues before using it.
