What is Rise?
Rise is Manchester Met’s extracurricular programme that’s all about learning beyond your course. It’s your chance to explore new interests, pick up valuable skills, and get recognised for everything you do outside of your main subject. Think of it as a way to supercharge your degree with hands-on, career-boosting experiences.
What Do We Offer?
With Rise, you’ve got tons of free opportunities right at your fingertips. Whether it’s volunteering around Greater Manchester, diving into self-study packs, or grabbing some certifications, there’s something for everyone. We also host a variety of workshops, guest talks, short courses, and projects.
As you get involved, you’ll earn Rise Points for each activity you complete. Rack up enough points, and you can earn digital badges—bronze, silver, or gold—in areas like civics, sustainability, self-effectiveness, digital skills, enterprise, and internationalisation. These badges are perfect for showing off on LinkedIn or adding to your CV. More info on our badges here.
Plus, you’ve got your own Rise Transcript where all your achievements are tracked.
Did something awesome outside of Rise? You can even self-claim points for projects, volunteering, or work experience you’ve done on your own. Learn how to self-claim here.
How Does It Work?
