YA Reading Group mentor
Drop in reading group sessions for 12-14 year olds will happen in the Manchester Poetry Library from 7th August, taking place every Tuesday and Thursday.
The aim of these sessions is to engage young people with the poetry library’s collection of YA Verse Novels but the reading groups will be casual and will respond to topics of discussion as they arise.
Groups will be overseen by PhD student Connie Hamilton, who also teaches on the English Undergraduate degree programmes and who has been running a project around the Verse Novel collection this year.
We are looking for people with an interest in reading YA Fiction and in working with young people to join the groups to act as reading mentors.
You do not have to attend all sessions and can participate at a level that suits you. Working with Connie, you might want to lead some sessions or activities, or simply be an active participant in the group.
This is a pilot project and your input can inform the future direction of this project.
