Poetry in the Long Nineteenth Century

25th January 17:30 to 19:00
Since their first symposium in June 2021, this online Seminar Series has offered a fabulous platform for PGRs/ECRs to share their research and for students from all disciplines to learn more about the long nineteenth century.

The MMU PGR/ECR Long Nineteenth Century Interdisciplinary Research Seminar Series is organised by Postgraduate students at Manchester Met and are aimed at fostering inter-institutional and multi-faculty networking.

Seminars are held on the third/last Thursday of every month, with two or three speakers presenting their research around a similar theme or topic related to the long nineteenth century.

This session will focus on Poetry in the Long-Nineteenth Century and will feature the following talks:

Morgan Lee (Cardiff University)

A Scene Unseen: How Tennyson’s ‘Mariana’ is haunted by Shakespeare’s Measure for Measure

Pauline Hortolland (Universite Paris Cite)

Shelley’s Apocalypse: Lyric Performance and the Reconfiguring Powers of Poetry
