Irish Language and Culture introduction

A joint session for students in Faculties of Arts and Humanities and Business and Law.
This activity is offered as part of Go Global - an exciting set of activities, , allowing students to engage in an international experience.

This session will briefly examine the power and importance of the Irish Language. Briefly exploring its ancient origins from pagan Ireland to contemporary Hollywood cinema, Irish is a language that continues to fascinate in its lyrical complexity and its political resonance. This session will introduce you to some key phrases and known words, inform you how Hollywood always gets Irish wrong, and briefly discuss how Irish live in the contemporary world.
