Guest talk: Working as a freelancer with leading global brands.

Open to All Students. Come and hear from two inspiring designers – Ian McIntyre and John Booth. Learn about ceramics, product design, fashion, illustration, making, business and entrepreneurship!

You will gain first hand insight to the intricacies of working as a freelancer with leading global brands such as Hay, Another Country, Hem, Fendi, and more…

John Booth

Born in Scotland in 1984 and raised in Cumbria, Booth moved to London in 2004, where he graduated with a BA in fashion print design at Central Saint Martins in. He has since taught as a lecturer both at Central Saint Martins as well as at the University of Westminster. Booth has worked for several fashion brands including Zandra Rhodes, John Galliano, Ashish, Christopher Shannon and most recently, Globetrotter, Fendi and Paul Smith.

 

Ian McIntyre

b. Leeds, England 1984.

Studied MA Ceramics and Glass, RCA 2010.

Founding member of Studio Manifold, East London.

Lecturer at Central Saint Martins.

Currently holds a Collaborative Doctoral Award with Manchester School of Art, York Art Gallery and The British Ceramics Biennial.

Works held in the permanent collections of The Design Museum London, Victoria and Albert Museum, London, York Art Gallery, England, Manchester Art Gallery, England and La Triennale di Milano, Italy.

With a background in product design and applied art, Ian employs a mixture of industrial design and craft skills within his work to produce exhibitions, installations and designs for production. His output spans the fields of design, research and curating. Ian has collaborated with a wide range of design manufacturers and cultural institutions including Vitsoe, Jerwood Visual Arts and The Helen Hamlyn Centre for Design.
