Government Communication Service (GCS) Live Project

3rd June to 7th June
Come and learn what you could achieve through a career in government communications, developing your skills to contribute to live campaigns which have an impact on lives throughout the UK and beyond.
This activity is brought to you in partnership with the Careers Service and Rise

This opportunity is open to students in the Department of English.

People work in government communications because what we do matters.

The Government Communication Service (GCS) is the professional body for more than 7,000 public service communicators working in over 350 government organisations.

We explain the objectives and policies of the government of the day. We provide clarity and reassurance to the public at times of crisis. We support businesses to grow. We protect our environment. We help those in need to access support.

We are passionate about ensuring that GCS is a place where everyone can connect, learn and grow their careers.

We have a growing GCS communications network and departments are increasing the number of roles outside of London – already almost 200 GCS members are in Manchester! This is a part of the Government’s commitment to “Levelling Up”, building a strong and diverse workforce across the UK.
