Global Party Starters : International DJing 101

31st May to 28th June
Join DJ, musician & promoter Toby Wheadon in immersing yourself in the art of DJing from a global perspective. The sessions cater to all experience levels, from beginners to seasoned music lovers & keen DJs alike. We will cover the basics of mixing, as well as the origins, styles & evolution of DJing in different cultures & regions.

This course is designed to be relaxed, supportive and collaborative, with open exchange of ideas and knowledge throughout. Feel free to arrive with song suggestions, questions and all your enthusiasm.

Through a process of workshops, including live sets and hands-on practice with professional gear, attendees will gain an in-depth understanding of the role music plays in bringing people together and driving change, from the early Discothéques of 1950s Paris, to the evolution of Afro-Funk and its role in the global Hip Hop scenes. Toby will be joined by guests in the music industry across the weeks.

By the end of the course, participants should have a basic idea of how to curate and mix a set, as well as an appreciation for the rich and diverse global music scene.

At the very least, you’ll enter the summer with a bucket-load of new music to show people!

On acceptance to the course, you will be emailed with a Mentimeter link and Spotify playlist to start your collaboration with your fellow participants.
