Future Economies Analytics Research Internship

23rd May to 26th August
An opportunity to work alongside academic researchers inside an MMU Research Centre on live, real-world projects that seek to understand how our economy is changing.

Host Researcher: Dr Christian Spence

Future Economies Analytics is a dedicated data analysis, modelling and forecasting unit within the Future Economies University Centre for Research and Knowledge Exchange. It manages a bespoke set of databases and uses data analytics and visualisations to support academic research into regional economies. It also delivers commercial consultancy for clients from the public and private sectors. The centre aims to better shape policy to drive sustainable economic growth and manage both current and future economic and societal challenges.

We invite applications from students of all levels with a keen interest in economic data and policy who are seeking to gain additional employability skills and experience of a active research centre. Placements will be tailored to individuals’ interests as much as possible, though there may be the opportunity to work on live projects for clients or ongoing research.

Students with good existing quantitative skills and/or experience in data analysis, use of Excel, R (and other statistical software) are particularly welcome. Training will be provided if applicants are seeking some experience in using these tools, so no prior experience is necessary: just an enthusiasm for economics and policy and a desire to learn!

All interns will have the opportunity to produce a short report during their placement so they have a key piece of work they can use to show employers in the future.
