Flashes and Bangs Show
The Department of Natural Sciences invites you to a unique show performed by Dr Frank Mair. The show will rediscover why chemists got interested in chemistry in the first place – bright colours, explosions, and the chance to blow things up! His “Flash-Bang Show” is a fast-paced indoor firework display that takes the audience on an exciting journey through the chemistry and thermodynamics of materials used in fireworks. Taking place in the Dalton Building, Frank will apply your fundamental chemistry knowledge using a series of visual reactions producing bright light and sound, with lots of “oohs” and “aahs”. There will be free tea, coffee and cake from 2.15pm outside Lecture Theatre 2, with audience members requested to take their seats no later than 2.50pm.
