Carbon Literacy Training - Four Opportunities

23rd May to 6th June
This course will give you an overview of the basic science of climate change as well as an understanding of the actions required by government, universities and other organisations, and individuals in order to avoid the worst impacts of climate change and set us on a path towards a more sustainable future.

About this event

Climate change is widely recognised as one of the greatest, and most urgent, challenges facing humankind. This challenge has been recognised internationally, within the UK, as well as on a local level.

This course will give you an overview of the basic science of climate change as well as an understanding of the actions required by government, universities and other organisations, and individuals in order to avoid the worst impacts of climate change and set us on a path towards a more sustainable future.

About this course:

The training consists of two blocks and will run over two days. Each block will consist of two hours of self-study and a three-hour interactive webinar. There are four different training opportunities in May/June (A, B, C or D). You will need to attend the two corresponding Webinars. (***You cannot pick-and-mix your dates.***)

The self-study will be delivered via our digital learning platform and you can complete this at your own pace ahead of the weekly webinar. You will be able to access the e-learning 4 weeks ahead of webinar 1.

Each webinar consists of a number of discussion based interactive activities. Please note that you are expected to actively participate in all the activities and that you need to attend both webinars in order to gain your Carbon Literacy certificate. The webinars will be delivered via Teams and you will be sent the link to the Teams meeting at least one day ahead of each webinar. Please see below for an outline of themes covered in each webinar:

Webinar 1: Exploring Carbon Footprints & A Zero Carbon World

Webinar 2: Our Wider Influence & Taking Action

If you have any additional learning requirements, please contact the Carbon Literacy Team to work out how you can best be supported in undertaking this programme.

Please note that this course is open to students and staff at Manchester Metropolitan University.
