Aspiring Nurses & Social Workers - Meet our Alumni

15th March 18:00 to 19:30
Thinking about a career in nursing, social work or the wider health sector? This is a great chance to come and hear from Manchester Met alumni about their experiences and get the chance to network with them over some pizza.

Thinking about a career in nursing, social work or the wider health sector? This is a great chance to come and hear from Manchester Met alumni about their experiences and get the chance to network with them over some pizza, cake and drinks.

Hearing from alumni gives you the chance to find out anything you’d like about what it’s like to go into teaching. You’ll have a chance to ask any questions you’d like and build your professional network.

The session will be split with the first half being question and answers with our alumni before giving you the chance to meet them informally with a networking session.

Confirmed Alumni Speakers:

Leanne Morgan – I completed my initial Nursing degree in 2010 at MMU and started my career in District Nursing. In 2019 i completed my specialist practice degree in community health at MMU gaining a first class honours. During this course i was the successful recipient of the QNI Philip Goodeve-Docker memorial prize for most outstanding student and have since been awarded the prestigious title of Queen’s Nurse.

Sam Turner – Sam is a Registered Nurse who graduated from Manchester Met in September 2020, during the height of the global COVID19 pandemic. Working in Anaesthetics, Recovery and Critical Care, Sam has become competent in airway management, and care of the critically unwell, mechanically ventilated patient. Sam has taught Clinical Skills to Student Nurses as an Associate Lecturer and has recently started as a Full-Time Lecturer in Adult Nursing at the University.

Emeka Prince Nnadika – I was called to the Nigerian Bar in 2007, still on the roll to practice as a Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Nigeria. I am resident in the UK for over twelve years holding a Master in Law LLM in Human Rights from the Manchester Met and I have worked with some law firms abroad and here in the UK. Currently, I am now doing an MA in social work so I can provide that person-centred support to help people with lived experiences understand their rights and navigate the complex legal system even where their capacity is a fact in issue in their litigations.
