Design a skin impedance meter
Host Researcher: Dr Aron Teklemariam
This is a great opportunity to give your contribution to a research project and show your academics and personal skills which will appreciated when you apply for graduate jobs or Masters. The project is suitable for level 5/6 Electrical Engineering students and Level 6 Mechanical Engineering students, but also open to Healthcare Science students for the testing phase and measurement of muscles electrical signal. This can be a group work. The students will have a practical experience in data acquisition and signal processing using LabVIEW (hardware and software). In addition the student will learn how to measure the electrical activity of the muscle. Support will be provided by experienced researchers, leaders in the field from different disciplinary backgrounds.
Activities Timeline
Phase 1:
Design the circuit for the impedance meter and define the parameters values based on existing studies.
Phase 2:
Design the LabView program (prior knowledge of the software desired but not necessary).
Phase 3:
Implement the circuit. (the equipment is provided)
Phase 4:
Test the circuit and acquire the data. Verify the results with an existing computer model. Each phase is supported by technicians and experienced researchers. Further work might be completed depending on the number of students.
