Indian Textile Masterclass: The Material Stories of India

30th March to 2nd April
NIFT, the National Institute for Fashion and Textiles in India is bringing an immersive textile experience to Manchester! Learn all about Indian textile heritage with master artisans & NIFT academics. Explore materials, cultural context, and sustainable techniques through lectures and hands-on masterclasses in natural dyeing and embroidery.

4-Day Masterclass: The Material Stories of India

Hosted by: Manchester School of Art and Manchester Fashion Institute, in collaboration with NIFT (National Institute of Fashion Technology, India)

Overview:

Immerse yourself in the diversity of Indian textile heritage. This intensive 4-day masterclass, led by visiting academics and master artisans from India, blends historical context with hands-on material exploration. You will work directly with natural fibers, traditional dyes, and ancient techniques to understand their relevance in contemporary sustainable design.
