Non-Verbal Poetry: an exploration of poetry through play and performance

25th March 16:30 to 18:30
A collaborative exploration of 'non-verbal poetry': how does thinking of other art forms as 'poetry' impact our process and output? This will be a practical, playful session to which everyone is welcome, whatever your area of expertise or interest.

Following Peoplescape Theatre’s highly acclaimed theatre tour of ‘The Selfish Giant’, performance poet Ruth Awolola and award-winning scriptwriter Emily Capstick, will be sharing some of our devising and experimentation processes! There will also be time to reflect together on how this approach might help in different work sectors and individual artists’ practice.

This practical, playful session will be of interest to anyone with an interest in developing skills in devising educational theatre for young audiences.

Suitable for individual artists, teachers and performers and open both to MMU staff and students and others with an interest this session will be

Free for participants. In partnership with Manchester Poetry Library (Manchester Metropolitan University). Funded by Arts Council England (National Lottery Project Grants).
