Workshop: ideas Devleopment
The workshop is open to all colleagues in the SES department, but preference will be given to early-career academics and colleagues who have not yet published in ABS4* journals. Prof. Reuber will provide constructive feedback to the authors in a roundtable discussion format. The workshop will also invite peer feedback from the other participants to offer a rich developmental experience to the authors.
While we hope that many of the submitted proposals will eventually progress to be submitted to JIBS, the workshop aims to improve the quality of global research by providing quality feedback and accelerating SES colleagues’ presence in top-tier journals. Thus, opportunities for discussing future collaboration will be an integral part of the workshop.
Submission
Prospective participants are invited to submit a two-page proposal for their paper, with an optional page of key references, by noon on 20 February 2026. Each participant may submit only one idea proposal. The cover page of the proposal should include all authors’ names, emails, and affiliations. In the email subject, please specify “Paper idea proposal.” Idea proposals will be selected based on their fit with the expertise of the editor and the quality of their submitted work. Please email your submission to: nic.li@mmu.ac.uk. By submission, you agree to be physically present for the IDW workshop on 5 March for a 5-minute presentation and the rest of the session.
Workshop 2026 Key Dates:
• 20 February 2026. Deadline for paper idea submissions
• 27 February 2026. Notification of acceptance to successful applicants
• 5 March 2026. Idea Development workshop (details above)
Presentation guidelines
Since the objective of an IDW is to get feedback for your paper/idea, we have established presentation guidelines.
Plan for about a 5-minute presentation to your roundtable. No slides, but a 1-page handout may be provided to your table attendees. The Co-editors will open the discussion, then table attendees are encouraged to share suggestions.
Please contact Nic Li (n.li@mmu.ac.uk) if you have any questions regarding this IDW.
