Expert Speaker: Global Perspectives on the Development of the Law on Esports
Competitive video game tournaments and esports are a rapidly growing phenomenon across the globe. They often involve organised leagues, large prize monies, growing audiences and strategic training. Popular as they are, they have also challenged regulators and law-makers. This session explores these challenges and responses to them across the globe.
Dr Tsubasa Shinohara is an assistant professor at the University of Tsukuba, Japan. He is also Head of the Legal Department and Human Rights Officer at Swiss Esports Federation. He has published extensively on international human rights law and its application to sport and the legal/regulatory responses to the growth of esports.
