Expert Speaker: Development, Access to Justice and Human Rights - Maternal Rights in Africa
In the week of International Women's Day, this very timely session explores the development of international human rights law, in particular the maternal rights of women, and assesses their implementation and respect in parts of Africa. The session also addresses the related issues of international development and access to justice.
Dr Adam Dubin is an assistant professor of law at Universidad Pontificia Comillas in Madrid, Spain, where he is Director of the Masters in International and European Business Law. He is a specialist in human rights and international development in Sub-Saharan Africa where he has conducted extensive human rights work on the rights of women and girls. He has collaborated with the Angolan Ministry of Justice on maternal rights and has trained judges across Africa on the interpretation and application of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child. He has published extensively on human rights, access to justice, education, gender and poverty in Sub-Saharan Africa.
