AI Session 2 - AI for Employability: Building Future-Ready Skills in Health and Education

25th February 13:00 to 15:00
Join Matt Thorpe, Health and Education AI Faculty Lead, to discover how Generative AI can boost your employability and professional practice. This hands-on session explores Microsoft Copilot and Adobe Express, showing how AI can help you build communication, creativity and digital confidence while using it ethically and responsibly.

Students who complete all three sessions in this AI series will receive a Responsible AI Engagement Certificate and a total of 150 Rise points (40 points per session plus a 30-point bonus). This recognises your understanding of key ethical issues and responsible engagement with AI and adds significant value to your professional development.

This session will take place in an IT room with computers available for use; however, students are welcome to bring their own laptops or tablets if they prefer.

This practical session, led by Matt Thorpe, Health and Education AI Faculty Lead, introduces students to how Generative AI can support your employability and future professional practice. Focusing on Microsoft Copilot and Adobe Express, we will explore how AI can help you develop key workplace skills such as communication, organisation, creativity and digital confidence—skills increasingly expected across health, care, education and wider public-facing professions. We will begin by grounding the session in Manchester Met’s Embracing Generative AI Responsibly principles, helping you understand how to use AI ethically, critically and in ways that reflect professional values such as safeguarding and inclusivity. You will then see demonstrations and take part in practical activities that show how AI can support tasks such as preparing for interviews, planning placements, improving CVs and creating professional materials.
