Fundamentals of Java: Peer Support Workshop Series

10th December 13:30 to 15:00
Join us for a beginner-friendly Java fundamentals workshop where you will learn how to write your first interactive console program from scratch. This peer-led session is hands-on and guided, making it perfect for anyone curious about programming or just getting started in tech.

No prior coding experience is required, and we will support you step by step.

During the workshop, you will learn:

  • How Java works and how programs run
  • How to print output to the console
  • How to create and store data in variables
  • How to use conditionals to make decisions
  • How to take user input with Scanner
  • How to use loops to repeat actions

If you already have some programming knowledge, don’t worry. We have optional challenges designed to push your skills further, help you explore more advanced logic, and build confidence in writing Java code. This session is practical, accessible, and ideal for first-time programmers and returning learners.
