Join the Sustainability Focus Group (SFG) and use your voice for change!

3rd December 13:00 to 16:00
Are you engaged, passionate, and ready to help shape sustainability at Mcr Met? This is your chance to be the change you want to see while collaborating on live projects and unique opportunities.

We are forming a new Sustainability Focus Group to unite students who want to integrate sustainability to a greater extent  into all aspects of our work and the broader university community.

We’re looking for:

  • Students who possess Gold Sustainability and or Community Badges, have engaged with sustainability project as part of their course, or who can posses a strong passion for sustainability.
  • Those who are actively engaged and eager to participate in future Rise events focusing on sustainability themes and badges.
  • Individuals willing to collaborate in and co-design tools for live projects, such as the Student Societies for Sustainability Tracker (a new pilot initiative).
  • Members interested in amplifying and representing the student voice, ensuring that sustainability is visible, credible, and led by students across the university.
  • Students capable of writing high-quality reviews of events, contributing to the Responsible Futures Audit. This involvement will help improve McrMet’s accreditation score.

This is a voluntary yet high-impact opportunity — helping shape events, strengthen student voice, and build a legacy of Responsible Futures. It’s also a flexible commitment, with weekly hybrid meetings throughout the year to support accessibility and varied project workloads.

By joining, you’ll not only co-design sustainability initiatives and contribute to Responsible Futures accreditation, but also gain recognition, build your CV, and contribute to a larger legacy, with the potential to become an Responsible Futures auditor later in this academic year.

Are you ready to rise and be the beacon of sustainable student advocacy at McrMet?

Please complete an expression of interest and tell us:

  1. What have you been involved in so far linked to sustainability and the student voice at Mcr Met?
  2. Why do you think you’d be a good fit for the Sustainability Focus Group?

Feel free to include anything of relevance from outside of your experiences as a student too.
