Everything InPlace: the Placement Year Process

20th January 10:00 to 11:00
A step-by-step guide of the placement year journey, providing an overview of the placement process. Familiarise yourself with job boards and InPlace and have the opportunity to ask questions about the approval process.
This activity is offered as part of Future Me Week - five days of exciting opportunities to develop your skills, deepen understanding, gain experience and take steps towards an exciting Future You.

Overview: Join us for an interactive session in a computer lab where you can hear about what a placement year is, the journey of the placement year (from finding a placement to returning to university after a placement year) and speak with members of the Placements Team.

After an overview, you’ll have the chance to log into a computer and search on jobs boards; submit your placement declaration through CareerHub; or populate your self placement form through InPlace.

FMW exclusivity: This exclusive Future Me Week session will also give you the opportunity to familiarise yourself with job boards, learn how to declare your placement, learn how to complete a self placement form and ask questions you may have on the approvals process. You can also hear about what to expect whilst on your approved placement year and returning to your third year after your placement has concluded.

Who can come: The session is open for second year undergraduate students and students in their first year of their postgraduate course who have secured a placement, are looking to declare their placement, or who have already declared their placement and want to know more about the next steps.

Accessibility: We are committed to making this event as inclusive as possible. Accessibility measures in place already include wheelchair access. Find out more about the building and room (Business School BS 2.08.) on the Building Access Map. If you need any additional adjustments or further confirmation of the setup, please contact the Placements Team (placements@mmu.ac.uk) at least 24 hours before the event.

We will also do our best to accommodate any requests made on the day of the event, so speak to a member of staff if there is anything we can do to support your participation.

Further resources: You can complete the Graduate Attributes Self-Study Pack ahead of the session here: Rise x Future Me at Manchester Met
