Once upon AI: How AI can make creatives' lives easier

9th October 14:00 to 16:00
Unlock the potential of AI as a creative partner! This hands-on workshop is designed specifically for artists, designers, and creatives of all kinds.

Tired of tech workshops that feel alien? We start where you are. In this session, you will learn the fundamentals of Generative AI through the lens of art and creativity. We’ll move beyond the hype and focus on practical, actionable skills.

What you will do:

  • Understand AI as a new kind of artistic tool.
  • Learn the art of “prompt engineering” (how to talk to AI to get the results you envision).
  • See a live demo of AI being used to develop assets for an independent project.
  • Get hands-on with creative activities.

What you will get:

  • A foundational understanding of AI image generation and its ethical use.
  • Practical skills you can immediately apply to your own artistic practice.
  • The confidence to explore AI tools further.
  • A chance to connect with other creatives on campus.

Please bring: A laptop or tablet to use during the hands-on activities.

No prior tech or AI knowledge is required, just your creativity!

This session is brought to you by Arthur Grangeiro de Souza is a master’s student in AI at Man Met and a creative practitioner. Their work sits at the intersection of technology, art, and education, with a focus on making advanced tech concepts accessible to everyone. They are currently developing “Ordinary Leaf”, a narrative game about Sustainable Development with a decolonial perspective for their Master’s dissertation. Arthur is also the founder of “collearning.com”, a future platform dedicated to contextual and personalised learning. This workshop is part of their research into how we can learn about technology through the language of our own passions.
