Undergraduate Consultancy
The course runs for six weeks, meeting weekly on Thursday afternoons as either face-to-face workshops or MSTeams sessions. Significant support is provided for literature acquisition/evaluation and the creation of brief client reports and slide decks. This is an active experience that expects participants to gather and evaluate evidence for their clients, including ‘out of class’ tasks to bring back to workshops and meetings to share with collaborators.
Our clients impact regionally and beyond and the specific clients that we engage with depends on the interests and backgrounds of applicants. Traditionally, we have focused on clients that require information about themes of sustainability or environmentally-focused agrobiology solutions. Clients are remote, but may meet with consultancy students online or face to face in the university, depending on client availability and needs.
We are seeking students from scientific degree courses who are willing to undertake desk-based research in these subject areas.
Applications should provide a brief overview of: “How your experiences of desk-based research could help professional clients in your subject area”. Please include some indication of your personal interests in scientific research, particularly in field of environmental sustainability. No citations/references are required and the paragraph should be a maximum of 200 words.
