Sustainability Volunteer- Union Cupboard
The Union Cupboard is a sustainability initiative that gives new life to donated household items, helping reduce waste and support students in need. Volunteers will be involved in the full cycle of the project—from collecting donations at student halls to sorting, cleaning, and preparing items for redistribution through monthly second-hand markets. These events are hosted at The Union and are open to all students, promoting a circular economy on campus.
During the summer months, particularly from May to August, volunteers will play a crucial role in managing the influx of donations as students move out of accommodation.
This activity is ideal for students passionate about sustainability, community engagement, and practical project work. Volunteers will gain hands-on experience in event coordination, teamwork, and environmental impact initiatives. Their contributions will directly support MMU’s sustainability goals and help foster a more resource-conscious student community.
