Marketing/Art Direction Film Role in Collaboration with Oscar Munro & Manchester Art Gallery

7th April to 23rd May
Join designer Oscar Munro at Manchester Art Gallery to film his waste design processes. Capture the creation of unique bags from materials like exhibition banners, sail cloth, seatbelts, and hot air balloon off-cuts. Document his entire process to showcase the craftsmanship for the 2025 Sustainable Fashion Exhibition.

Exciting Filming Opportunity with Award:

We are offering a unique opportunity for students to work in a Marketing/Art Direction Film Role alongside designer Oscar Munro, founder of his waste design business, in collaboration with Manchester Art Gallery. This role involves capturing Oscar’s unique design processes as he works with various waste materials, including exhibition banners, sailcloth, seatbelts, and hot air balloon off-cuts, to handcraft one-of-a-kind bags. These bags will be sold in the Manchester Art Gallery shop and featured in the 2025 Sustainable Fashion Exhibition.

Award: Students will receive a cash award payment of £300 for this role.

Project Details:

Participants will work closely with Oscar Munro to film the craftsmanship and skill involved in creating each unique piece for the Manchester Art Gallery shop and exhibition. The project will take place at Manchester Art Gallery and/or The Yard MCR.

Skills Development:

Students will learn valuable fashion communication and marketing skills, focusing on capturing the essence and values of Oscar’s brand. Filming will include:

  • Cutting and sewing processes
  • Close-ups of the craftsmanship
  • Interviews with the team
  • Documenting the process from start to finish

Networking and Professional Experience:

This collaboration offers networking opportunities and a chance to showcase your skills in a professional setting while having fun in a small team.

Creative and Social Media Skills:

The project encourages the next generation to think creatively about their methods and social media skills, providing an opportunity to develop a modern approach to fashion design and film production.

Outcome:

By the end of the project, students will have produced short films and reels covering the craft and production process. This content will be posted by Oscar Munro and Manchester Art Gallery, supporting students in building their digital portfolios.

Application Process:

We are looking for two students for the Marketing/Art Direction Film Role. Interested students should provide their name, contact details, and a detailed expression of interest. Links to any CV or portfolio work, or up to 3 minutes of film/audio/media of their choice, should also be included.

Commitment:

The project will require 70 hours for a 300-point accredited project. The timing will be confirmed with the industry partner, with a suggested launch at the end of March. Participants must commit to in-person sessions to document the making process, either within a studio setting or at Manchester Art Gallery.

Accreditation:

This project is RISE accredited.
