This session is designed to give students a hands-on experience with the technology behind large language models like ChatGPT.
This activity is offered as part of Future Me Week - five days of exciting opportunities to develop your skills, deepen understanding, gain experience and take steps towards an exciting Future You.

We are excited to invite you to our Future Me Week event: Natural Language Processing and Generative AI. This session is designed to give students a hands-on experience with the technologies behind large language models like ChatGPT.

We will learn how to download and run a model and experiment with the parameters that control the text being generated. We will also learn about some NLP tasks and how these models can be applied to solve these tasks through prompt engineering.

What You’ll Learn:

  • The technology behind large language models
  • How to download and run a model
  • Experimenting with parameters to control text generation
  • Understanding NLP tasks and applying models through prompt engineering

This session is open to all computing students who want to gain hands on experience coding LLM’s.
