About the role
Factory International are looking for 5 Emerging Fashion/Textiles Facilitators who are keen to develop their workshop delivery skills to support the delivery of the project.
Emerging Fashion/Textiles Facilitators will ideally have:
– Interest in learning how to facilitate creative workshops in schools for young people promoting sustainability and recycling
– Eagerness to learn creative workshop leadership skills
– Passion for supporting young people’s voices and creative practice
– Existing or emerging fashion / textiles practice and skills including domestic Sewing machine use, fabric dying deconstruction and manipulation.
This project requires students to have working knowledge and skills in sewing and manipulating fabrics to a demonstrable standard and will mostly suit those from Fashion design and Fashion design technology courses and Textiles in Practice BA/MA
This role will include:
– Supporting the lead artist Kemi -facilitators in their workshops
-Supporting students with creativity
-Attending training and planning sessions.
Delivery of sessions : 4 dates between week commencing 13th Jan to week commencing 3rd Feb
you will only attend one of the below sets of dates.
Either:

About the Project
From week commencing 13th Jan to week commencing 3rd Feb young people on the Factory International Schools programme will take part in a 4-week sustainable fashion project designed by Kemi Gbadebo, owner of sustainable streetwear brand GBADEBO.

Across 4 2-hour sessions young people on the project will learn about sustainable and fast fashion, try up-cycling techniques, and contribute to a collaborative tapestry.
Selected students will also be invited to a Takeover at Aviva Studios, the programme’s end of year celebration in June 2025 to see the final piece and to work with students in drop-in workshops and interact with the public.

About Factory International Schools
Factory International Schools is Factory International’s year-round partnership schools programme for secondary schools across Greater Manchester. Factory Schools unlocks Factory International’s artistic commissions happening at Aviva Studios with trips, artist workshops, performance opportunities, and a youth led festival which will take-over Aviva Studios in June 2025.
Experienced, practicing artists deliver weekly interdisciplinary workshops in our 5 partner schools which are designed to improve young people’s wellbeing and social and emotional learning. The programme is designed to build aspiration, ambition and wellbeing over the course of the year track and both attainment and attendance to see how improvements impact young people’s overall chances of making a successful transition to adulthood. Inclusivity is at the heart of this initiative, ensuring that young people from diverse backgrounds and experiences receive the support they need to thrive.
We deliver 2 x 2-hr workshops at each partner school every day per week of the academic year with year 8 and year 9 students.

Preparation day This will be a "Meet the Team" and training day, where full details and expectations will be shared with you and the rest of the team. -
13/01/25 to 03/02/25 - TBC- Schools will be determined on role offer
4 x 2 hour workshop delivery These will be agreed upon individually, with exact dates determined upon the successful confirmation of your role, each session will be 4 consecutive weeks between the dates listed. -
02/06/25 to 30/06/25 - Aviva Studios
