Jobs4Students presents “AI: Decoding the Perfect Application”

24th January 10:00 to 11:00
Take on the role of a recruiter in this interactive workshop! Work in teams to review, score, and discuss real examples of applications. Learn how AI impacts application success and gain practical insights to craft your own standout applications.
This activity is offered as part of Future Me Week - five days of exciting opportunities to develop your skills, deepen understanding, gain experience and take steps towards an exciting Future You.

This reverse scenario workshop flips the script! Instead of writing applications, you’ll step into the shoes of a recruiter. After a brief introduction to using AI for application writing we will divide into groups to review three applications:

1. An AI-generated application using generic prompts.

2. An AI-enhanced application with detailed personal and professional information.

3. An information rich and edited AI-assisted application.

Using a provided scorecard, you’ll analyse each application’s strengths and weaknesses, scoring them based on key criteria like personalisation, relevance, and professionalism. This hands-on approach helps you identify what recruiters look for and equips you with the tools to apply these insights to your own job search.

By attending, you’ll sharpen your ability to evaluate applications, develop critical graduate attributes, and learn best practices for using AI to create professional and uniquely tailored applications.

Who Can Come? Open to all Manchester Met students, particularly those looking to improve their CV and cover letter writing skills or explore how AI can support their career development.
