
Picture Frame Making
A brilliant opportunity to learn how to make a Picture Frame using a mix of traditional conservation and contemporary techniques. Making use of our specialist technical workshop in the School of Art you will be taught how to make a frame to art conservation standards and understand aesthetics of picture framing.
As part of the morning session you will gain an insight into using picture framing tools, skills and Art conservation practices used in picture framing. The afternoon session you will have the opportunity to practice these skills in the workshop with experts !
- In the morning you will be taught professional picture framing equipment and techniques.
- In the afternoon you will be supported in using these techniques to frame your own A5 image.
- You will have the chance to cut glass, use a mitre guillotine and the CNC paper cutter.
- Finally if you don’t complete your frame, you will be welcomed to rebook into the workshop another time to finish the making process at your own leisure.
This session is aimed at students wanting to progress there professional practice in arts presentation, so is suited to School of Arts students but is open to all with a keen interest in the Arts.
Please bring a printed image no larger than A5 to the session, this could be a photograph or a print.
