Held in April every year, National Volunteer Month is a time to celebrate and recognize the contributions of volunteers. It is an opportunity to join the impact of volunteerism and encourage more people to get involved in their communities. This is a great month to reaffirm your commitment to giving back.

Entering the volunteering world may seem difficult thing to get started on, but don’t worry! Rise has commissioned a Self Study Pack on Volunteering and Service learning, that will take you through ways get started with volunteering, and which unlocks a variety of volunteering opportunities across Greater Manchester. By completing the self study pack, you’ll earn a Bronze Civics Badge which evidences your proficiency and knowledge on the theme. You’ll also gain 50 Rise Points, 10 more than any of our other self study packs!
Gaining this badge also unlocks a volunteering and service learning search engine that will make it easy for you to find opportunities that align to your ambitions. Whether you’re in Manchester or a different address for the summer, you’ll find something meaningful and exciting to do. Prince’s Trust – Become an Education Mentor
Join the Prince’s Trust on campus, where they are hosting two assessment centre days for Education Mentor positions. A fantastic opportunity if you are interested in a career in teaching, education, or supporting children and young people.

Hallé Hackathon – Student Facilitators
The Hallé holds an archive of their 165 year history of the musical organisation, including a newly searchable online database containing over 40,000 listings of individual works, artists, soloists, concert halls and much more from 1858 to 1990. The hackathon is a two-day event where teams will seek out ways of creatively navigating the history of the Hallé – to mine and extract data that uncovers the untold stories and histories from within the Hallé’s archive.
They are seeking student facilitators to help run a two-day hackathon at Hallé Orchestra in Ancoats Manchester.

Community Fundraiser Volunteer
St John Ambulance is the charity that steps forward in the moments that matter, to save lives and keep communities safe. They are a market leader in the provision of workplace training, first aid supplies and event and ambulance services. They are looking for a volunteer Community Fundraiser who can help them save lives, without even picking up a first aid kit.
