Workshopping your Assessment
Creating a story of an experience that captures all your thinking and doing can be a big task. These sessions are here to scaffold this for you.
We appreciate that the way you are assessed in your degree of study may differ greatly from a Rise assessment. Please don’t worry. Your sessions will be run by an Experiential Learning Tutor, who has knowledge in academic output and can facilitate your experiential learning and reflection into a strong and creative piece of work.
Sessions will practically explore how you interpret and interrogate your experiences in emotionally intelligently. This will help you to create an assessment that will meet the Learning Outcomes in a deep and comprehensive way as well as help you explore their impact and future value.
“Research shows that for jobs of all kinds, emotional intelligence is twice as important an ingredient of outstanding performance as cognitive ability and technical skill combined.” (Goldman, 1995)
The skills you will gain through this session go beyond your assessment and you will have the opportunity to also see how your reflective practice aligns your experiences with graduate attributes too.
There is a lot to explore and interrogate in the process of reflecting on your Rise experience, so we will do it a bit at a time, giving you the chance to build your submission.
Your preparation:
- You need 300 points worth of Rise engagement
- Your Rise transcript printed or on a device
- Your commitment and respect of the process is valued. Just like your assignment, these workshops take time and commitment to prepare and tailor to you, so please be respectful and be prepared to prioritise all sessions – it will be worth your while!
- A brief statement in your expression of interest of what you hope to gain and confirmation of your commitment to the 5 weeks.
- If you are not ready to do the assessment, are close to your 300 points and are still interested, please feel free to submit an expression of interest also.
