Introduction in to Punch Needle

This session will cover the basics of needle punch, the tools its self and the materials to use.
This activity is offered as part of Future Me Week - five days of exciting opportunities to develop your skills, deepen understanding, gain experience and take steps towards an exciting Future You.

Punch needle embroidery is a form of embroidery that’s related to rug making. This technique goes back hundreds or maybe even thousands of years, but it has remained popular and takes on looks from primitive to modern. Punch needle embroider is a highly textured technique made of loops that shows off its connection to rug making.  Instead of stitching through the fabric, punch needle pushes thread or yarn into the fabric, while keeping the needle on the surface.

This session will cover the basics of needle punch, the tools its self and the materials to use. All materials will be provided.

    In this induction there will be a demo on punch needling and an opportunity to try the skill yourself.
