International Women’s Day Outreach Festival

Camila Torres Copywriter Sandwich Year Student

Are you interested in sharing and advocating for International Women’s Day as part of a community celebration event? Would you like to create your very own workshops or an activity for the community around Hulme? Then we want to hear from you!

This year Rise will celebrate International Women’s Day with a fun, creative and community-based mini festival aimed at families of all ages. The best part? You can help design and organise the day!

International Women’s Day Outreach Festival

We are looking for eager, motivated, and friendly students who would like to support the design, organising and delivery of the festival. Male, Female, Non-Binary folk are ALL welcome to join us in this creative and celebratory event for International Women’s Day.

This will be a student-led event where you can really contribute to your community. For instance, we have the brilliant student co-facilitators from the Saturday club project co-designing part of the event, creating content and creative activities such as banner making, women through history VR games, poetry workshops and more. We’ll have a series of fun drop-in activity on day, and Man Met students who are looking at re-imagining plastic are chipping in with a workshop of their own too. It’s going to be a diverse and engaging event, centred around IWM and this year’s theme #EmbraceEquity.

We would also love to hear your workshop ideas! If you’d like to propose a workshop, fill out this proforma where you’ll tell us a little bit about it and how it relates to International Women’s Day.

Please note that if you are submitting a workshop, you must book a place and attend our workshop on Wednesday 1st of March.

Help us to celebrate International Women’s Day with our Hulme community, young people from the National Saturday Club programme, and families from Greater Manchester. Be part of this special student-led community event designed, and run by you, open for everyone. And why not? Gain 100 Rise Points in the process.
