School Readiness can mean very different things including adult instruction in literacy skills and holistic learning through play.
This unit will consider School Readiness activities intended for children and adults across a range of situations including formal, informal, and home contexts.
It will draw on contributions from fields of knowledge including psychology, sociology, education, and early childhood studies. Students will explore the nature of human learning embedded in relationships, communication, culture, and the material world. Students will study and evaluate local activities intended to help children, families and schools be ready for each other.
The Firm Foundations short course is made up of the content covered in this unit along with the Pre-Birth and Early Days unit, which you will complete next.
