Pre Production Equipment and Content Planning

Pre production is a very important stage of any video production project. This stage involves the planning before you decide to pick the camera and start filming. If you miss out this stage, it might become very tedious in the production and post production stages, which could hamper the objective of your project and take out the fun in why you initially decided to film. This is no different for video blogs.

When planning your content, here are a list of things to think about:

1. Content – Think about the reason why your vlog content is needed and how it will be engaging. Is it for entertainment purposes? Is it for educational purposes? Is it to inspire? Think on these questions
2. Audience – Think about the people who you are looking to create your content for. What are their likes, dislikes, passions, etc. Get into the minds of your potential viewers.
3. Building your narrative – How are you going to build a storyline that will lead to the objective of why you are making your vlog? What is the message you are trying to convey and how best can you convey it? Think on these questions to build your narrative. In the second sprint under this topic, we will be investigating the power of storytelling.
4. Structure – How are you going to structure your video content? In the third sprint under this topic, we will be looking at the ‘3 Act structure’ which is a very lucrative way of telling stories and keeping your audience engaged.
