Introduce: Task 3

Introduce: Task 2

This week we will introduce you to another of our ‘languages of Greater Manchester’: Mandarin Chinese. The way of thinking is different between mandarin speakers and English speakers. Mandarin speakers  are good at comprehending but not at expressing. When learning English, they have to spend a lot of time trying to understand the logic in the language, which leads to them not saying themselves correctly when they speak English.

By completing this activity you will be introduced to some basic vocabulary which you can use when communicating with an Mandarin Chinese speaker. You will also begin to understand the relationship between the Mandarin Chinese and English language, and how that impacts communication.

Watch the following video, follow the prompts and answer the questions in the template provided.
