Introduce: Task 2

Introduce: Task 2

This week we will introduce you to the second of our ‘languages of Greater Manchester’: Arabic. There are more than 10,000 Arabic-speaking residents in Manchester, making Arabic the 7th most spoken foreign language in the Mancunian city. It is also one of the six official languages of the United Nations (UN). Yet, in the UK, only one per cent of the adult population can hold a basic conversation in Arabic.

By completing this activity, you will be introduced to some basic expressions which you can use when communicating with an Arabic speaker. You will also begin to understand the relationship between the Arabic and English language, and how that impacts communication.

Watch the following video on Arabic. Using the template provided, respond to the prompts and answer the questions.
