Introduce: Task 2

This week we will introduce you to the third of our ‘languages of Greater Manchester’: Bengali. Bengali is the seventh most spoken language by about 215 million people around the world as their native or second language. In the 2021 UK census, Bangladeshis in England and Wales enumerated 644,881, or 1.1% of the total England and Wales population.

By completing this activity, you will be introduced to some basic expressions and greetings which you can use when communicating with Bengali speakers. You will also begin to understand the relationship between the Bengali and English language, and how that impacts communication.
