Treasurer

3rd April to 31st December
Irish Community Care have a vacancy for an inspiring person with a background in finance to join our professional and forward-thinking Trustee Board as Treasurer.
This activity is brought to you by The Union in partnership with Manchester Community Central

Irish Community Care (ICC) is a registered charity and company limited by guarantee whose aim is to ensure well informed, empowered and vibrant Irish and Irish Traveller communities in the North West. We have over 50 years’ experience of community engagement, service provision, asset-based community development, partnership, collaboration and strategic representation.
It is an exciting time to join us! We are a key partner in the delivery of the Irish Government’s Diaspora Strategy and have recently been selected as one of three organisations nationally to receive three-year Emigrant Support Programme funding. ICC are also a founder member of Fréa, a dynamic collaboration between three leading Irish charities in the North of England, exploring sustainable income generation.
We currently have a vacancy for an inspiring person with a background in finance to join our professional and forward-thinking Trustee Board as Treasurer.
The role of the Treasurer is to:

Monitor the financial administration of the charity and report to the Board of Trustees at regular intervals on that and its state of financial health, in line with best practice and in compliance with the governing document and legal requirements
The Treasurer is also involved in budgeting and strategic financial planning, financial and management reporting, risk assessment and risk management. (All financial management, reporting and control activities are carried out by the Finance Lead in the organisation).

The Treasurer is very well supported by a skilled Finance and Funding Committee and Finance Lead who is employed by the organisation.
We are keen to recruit first time Trustees who seek governance experience in their career development. Trustees are expected to have an interest in, or direct knowledge of, the charity sector and support organisations proactively. We are a diverse organisation and would like to increase the diversity of our Trustee Board.
To become a member of ICC Trustee Board you will be required to demonstrate a strong commitment to the purpose and values of the organisation and to offer the skills you have towards our common strategic goals.
The Time Commitment
ICC requires all Trustees to attend 6 Trustee Board meetings each year and to participate in the same number of Finance and Funding Committee meetings. Meetings of the Board normally take place early in the evening. There are occasional ‘away days ’ and further duties, but the main responsibility outside formal meetings is to give support via email exchange. Formal meetings can be via Teams as well as in person.
This role is subject to a DBS check.
