We're looking for a treasurer with finance experience to join our board of trustees. You do not necessarily need prior trustee experience, but some charity finance experience would be helpful.
This activity is brought to you by The Union in partnership with Manchester Community Central

We’re a small health charity passionate about acknowledging the impact adversity trauma can have throughout life and the importance of being trauma-responsive.
The treasurer’s role is important in helping trustees carry out their financial responsibilities. The treasurer will work with the CEO and trustees to provide guidance and support with:

Preparing and presenting financial reports to the board in a format that helps the board understand the charity’s financial position

Advising the board on how to carry out its financial responsibilities

Liaising with our accountant for the preparation and scrutiny of annual accounts

Supporting day-to-day financial duties, such as QuickBooks and budgeting

Advising on the financial implications of the organisation’s strategic plans

Contributing to the fundraising strategy

As part of our board, you will support and shape our work and strategic direction and help us work towards a trauma-informed and trauma-responsive community. You will have a real opportunity to offer your unique skill set to help the strategic progression of the charity.

Commitment to the vision, mission and values of the Thrive Manchester
Broad understanding of charity finance issues
A strong understanding of financial principles, including budgeting, financial planning, cash flow management, and financial reporting. Proficiency in financial analysis and interpretation of financial data is also valuable for informed decision-making.
Good strategic vision and independent judgement
Creative thinking skills
Ability to foster and promote a collaborative team working environment
Uphold and promote the principles of equity, diversity, inclusion and anti-racism and ensure these are embedded in the organisation and help to deliver the charity’s public benefit
A commitment to using the principles of co-production with beneficiaries of the charity
An understanding or willingness to learn more about the experiences, needs and challenges faced by the community we serve
An understanding or willingness to learn more about the impact of Adverse Childhood Experiences and trauma

Lived experience is also important to us. First and foremost, we are humans getting alongside other humans. Professional qualifications are important (and essential for some of the work that we deliver!), but relationships are just as meaningful.
Many of our staff members and trustees have lived experience of trauma, neurodivergence, and caring for children with additional needs. We feel passionate that our trustee board should be truly representative of the people it serves.
We embrace diversity and are open to hearing from applicants from all backgrounds but are especially keen to add more voices from people with lived experience of trauma, neurodivergence and disability, Black, Asian and minority ethnic groups, and members of the LGBTQIA+ community.
