Walk the Red Carpet

A red carpet, a big screen, and a story that flips the script: Moss Side is ready for its spotlight! And, you can be ready too by getting a ticket here.

On 6 September 2025, filmmaker and proud Moss Side resident Baka Bah will premiere his first feature documentary The Success of Moss Side at Factory International. This isn’t just a film, it’s a love letter to a neighbourhood too often misrepresented in the media.

Instead of headlines about crime, Baka’s camera focuses on the people who make Moss Side shine:

• Ahmed Yassin, the coach opening doors for young footballers.
• His aunt, Suwaidu Sanyang, who turned grief into a movement for strength and unity.
• And countless other voices who bring warmth, culture, and resilience to their community!

The project began with Rise’s Making Great Communities Incubator, where Baka set out to change how people, including himself, see his home. “Moss Side is a slice of joy, a slice of culture, a slice of endurance,” he says. “It’s an example of how people from so many different backgrounds can thrive together.”
