Volunteer Day with Ardwick Climate Action Tuesday 8th October

8th October 10:00 to 14:30
Work with Ardwick Climate Action (ACA) to develop urban green spaces in central Manchester. This volunteering opportunity is your chance to have a real impact in supporting the local community. By taking part you will also gain experience in developing green spaces and how to make an urban area more friendly to people and the planet.

Ardwick Climate Actions’ (ACA) mission is to protect our local environment through grassroots advocacy that engages the local community. Their work encompasses the renewing of green spaces, monitoring pollution levels, and climate advocacy through community engagement.

This volunteer day will involve working at the Mancunian Way site and Kale street doing some of the following :

  • Building some Gabion walls to continue to encourage biodiversity
  • Providing a path to ACA’s “green route” Signs and planting bulbs around it
  • Trimming Hedging
  • Litter Picking

Please come suitably attired – warm coats, sturdy shoes – glovers are available but if you prefer your own then please bring them along

Meet at the Brunswick Church at 10 am to help out!

If you are interested in volunteering further with ACA Please contact: ardwickclimate@gmail.com to let them know you wish to take part.

Ardwick is one of the most deprived areas in Manchester, and much work is needed to reengage and sensitise the community back to nature and the climate crisis that affects all its residents.

Alongside this hands-on experience, you will also get to interact with members of ACA and the local community. This will provide you with first-hand knowledge of urban development and how to create spaces that enhance the local area whilst also building a safe space for biodiversity in the city.

Please claim points through the Rise self-claim portal with photo evidence of your attendance.
