The User Experience Design Process

22nd January 11:00 to 12:30
Poles apart but need to agree? Take part in a multi-disciplinary workshop to see how a user experience designer facilitates people with diverse perspectives to come together.
This activity is offered as part of Future Me Week - five days of exciting opportunities to develop your skills, deepen understanding, gain experience and take steps towards an exciting Future You.

In this workshop, you’ll experience the facilitation skills used in the field of human-centred design which showcase the practical application of psychology and how to use technology to support and enable multi-disciplinary, remote, online collaboration.

A professional designer and behavioural researcher will facilitate a collaborative design workshop to demonstrate how to support people with multiple perspectives agree on a shared outcome.

Attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions about the workshop design rationale and how it is applied in industry, including how the facilitator, a psychology graduate, has applied psychology in designing and running the workshop.

To fully participate this event needs you to join from a laptop in a place where you can interact by text, audio and video. You’ll also need a dark-coloured pen and a piece of paper.

This exclusive Future me week session is a fantastic opportunity to learn from an experienced designer about the application of psychology in their work. You’ll leave with insight into a user experience and service design technique for how inclusive services and products are created.

This session is open to all but will be particularly relevant to undergraduate and postgraduate psychology students.

Accessibility: The session is delivered online and needs participants to join from a laptop. We will use a digital whiteboard which can be difficult to interact with using a mobile phone or tablet. There will be opportunities for participation and discussion using text, audio and video so it would also be good to join from a space where speaking is allowed and distractions are minimised.

Further Resources: You can complete the Graduate Attributes Self-Study Pack ahead of the session here: Rise x Future Me at Manchester Met
