Textile Upcycler – Age UK Manchester Upcycling Studio

27th October to 19th January
Join a friendly upcycling studio in Didsbury to transform donated textiles into beautiful, sustainable creations. Learn new skills, reduce waste, and be part of a welcoming community.

This opportunity is based at Age UK Manchester’s Upcycling Studio in Didsbury, where volunteers help transform donated fabrics and garments into useful and creative products. You’ll be part of a small, welcoming team that values sustainability, creativity, and collaboration.

Volunteers will sort through textile donations, brainstorm and design upcycled products, and use sewing machines and hand tools to cut, stitch, and finish items such as tote bags, cushion covers, and unique clothing pieces. You’ll also help keep the studio organised and contribute ideas to inspire others.

Whether you’re experienced with textiles or just curious about sustainable fashion, this is a great chance to build practical skills, meet like-minded people, and make a positive impact on the environment.

Please submit your name, contact details, and a short expression of interest. You may also include links to a CV, portfolio, or a short (up to 3-minute) film/audio/media piece that showcases your creativity or interest in sustainability.

Volunteering hours are flexible: 10am–1pm or 1pm–4pm on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, or Thursdays. Maximum commitment is 100 hours for full Rise accreditation. This is an in-person opportunity based in Didsbury, Manchester.
